We have all made New Year resolutions or on-going promises that have only lasted for a short time. All with good intention you go back to your old habits, making excuses along the way so you feel better again. But it is only a short while when you get that feeling that you want to finally make that change. You end up going around in a cycle of disappointments, as you are again unable to stick to your change.
Changes will only work; they will only really happen if you make them simple. Making them simple will help you develop these changes into habits and we all know how easy habits are!
It takes a month for the neural pathways in our brain to create a habit. Simple steps we can make become a change; the change eventually becomes a habit.
An example of some simple healthy changes would be:
Drink 8 glasses of water per day
Don’t work later than 7pm at night
Go to bed before 11pm during week nights
Eat at least 5 portions of vegetables per day
Make a list…
Write down at least 10 simple healthy changes you would like to make (e.g. drink a glass of lemon water every morning, buy different coloured fruit and vegetables every week).
Create healthy changes and watch as you become habitually healthy!
